XXIV ANDRÉS SEGOVIA "ECHOES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN" FESTIVAL

It's hard to be original after 24 years, but in this Festival XXIV we show a novelty: the Guest Artist, Giovanna Manci (soprano) and Anna Ferrer (piano) will integrate a chamber music concert among the six strings. The will be accompanied by the Amadeus Duo–D. Kavanagh y T.Kirchhoff- R. Fabbri’s new music, and the Echoes of the Festival Andrés Segovia-Festival Fiuggi City Festival Chair.

After the success of the 2008 and 2009 GUITARRAS DEL IMPERIO festivals, we have obtained approval from the City Council to carry out in October 2010 the third GUITARRAS DEL IMPERIO festival.

This exhibition will focus on the evolution of the guitar from the late Eighteenth Century to the early Twentieth Century. The French origin of the sixth string in the Eighteenth Century, the Nineteenth Century splendor of the French lutheria and the creation of the Spanish modern school of guitar, from the French guitars that D. Aguado introduced in Madrid in 1.839.

The Festival’s Pearl is the project "Echoes of the Mediterranean".- are the series of openings for guitar, a solo instrument of the orchestra and the string orchestra that every year the festival entrusts through its Artistic DirectorPablo de la Cruz , a young composer from the Mediterranean or Latina area. This project seeks a "new sound of the guitar" looking askance at the new "plucked string" code blended with the harmony, melody and rhythm of the East-West culture that will shape the next millennium’s music. This year it’s Beatriz Arzamendi’s -the first woman who writes for the Echoes series- who will premiere her concert for bass & guitar and string o. soloists will ... Pablo de la Cruz –guitar- and Andrej Karasiukcontrabass- will be soloists.
